Kathryn R. Oseland, 100, of Effingham, IL, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 10, 2024.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a service beginning at 11:00 a.m.  on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. 4th Street, Effingham, IL 62401. Burial will be held at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ at a later date.

Kathryn was born on August 30, 1923, in Kincaid, IL the daughter of Charles Chester Daugherty and Rose Emiline (Dilbeck) Daugherty.  She married James Richard (Archie) Oseland on November 25, 1942. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1995.

Kathryn spent most of her younger years in Taylorville, IL, raising a family of 5 children, with subsequent years spent in the Tempe, AZ area and finally moving back to Illinois in 2002. Trips to Illinois to visit family were always a treasured memory and gatherings were always filled with love and laughter. With a lifetime spent as a homemaker, she enjoyed her children, grandchildren and extended family, always looking forward to the next visit or phone call. She loved ALL holidays, especially Christmas, spending a lifetime collecting nativities, ornaments and decorations. She loved to photograph her family, nature scenes and wildlife.

Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Lloyd-Wright of Effingham, IL; sons, James R. (Rick) Oseland II of Chandler, AZ, and son, Gregory A. Oseland and wife Amy (Schmidt) of Teutopolis, IL; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; daughters, Bonnie J. Craig-McCandlish and Sharron K. Turner; 11 brothers and sisters; and 5 grand/great-grandchildren.
